The main idea of launching IdeaPad series from Lenovo was to appeal customers. The Z370 is certainly one of those appealing laptops having a catchy outlook with a peacock blue case. It has a 13.3 inch display with large stereo speakers. It is also very much affordable being an all purpose laptop as far its price goes. It is configured with a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU, Intel integrated HD 3000 graphics, 4GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard drive with 5400 rpm which is a little slow as compared to other portables and a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium and is available at as low as $629. That’s a very low price as compared to the current rates for top rating models but those models have much better specs with high performance with most of them having a 15 inch display. Most of the laptops like the Z370 having 13.3 inch display fall into the ultraportable category but this machine due to its thickness of 1.4 inches and weight around 4.7 pounds, it does not really falls into the same category.
The IdeaPad Z370 is not recommended for serious gaming as the results were not good even with integrated Intel graphics but it should remain a major concern for the users when keeping its price in mind. Laptops that are highly recommended for games also have high prices. The battery time is also just average. It Z370’s six cell lithium ion battery lasts for about 5 hours and 13 minutes approximately which again when compared with its price, it sounds reasonable.
The Z370 is an ideal machine for multimedia performances. As mentioned earlier, it has built in stereo speakers located on the top of the keyboard on both corners producing a crisp and loud sound in this price range. Watching YouTube music videos or a film on the built in DVD recordable drive would be a pleasure. The sound quality also helps in video calls and a built in 2-mega pixel camera does an amazing job in capturing images. The widescreen LED looks good. It provides solid off-axis viewing from one side to another. It has a keyboard with no back light but the keys are beautifully sculpted with a fine matte surface. It has a joystick and a touchpad which is surely very responsive and concise and gives a smooth feeling as compared to other models.
The Z370 comes with a standard IdeaPad software bundle which includes useful apps and utilities. It offers the same hardware i.e. three USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI ports, a five-in-one card reader and separate headphone an microphone jacks. It has an external Wi-Fi switch which is a nice feature for travelers and also a Bluetooth support.
Overall the IdeaPad Z370 seems to be a very good option for travelers and for those with a low budget. It suits to those who don’t have heavy business or computing needs and would like to have a laptop that does well with movies and music.
