Amazon started offering streaming content to its prime members free of cost. The launch of the service had been rumoured for about a month now, and now that the release is official, it is available only in the U.S. With more than 5000 titles to choose from, a single click on the “Prime instant video” button would let users to select their interest.
The service features a large number of movies including recent ones together with a lot of TV shows. However, one will have to “rent” or “buy” certain foreign movies like ‘The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest’ and more to be able to download. With a reasonably good broadband connection, the streaming movies and shows are expected to work well owing to lack of commercials.
The Amazon Prime membership is priced at $79 per year and the service is available only to paid Prime members. Hence, free membership premium members will have to stay out of the deal. Together, the service is not yet available internationally. However, the recent buy of Lovefilm might cause Amazon to spread the offer to non-U.S areas also in the future.
